Bless your champion heart!

They said he's only good in cycling..."natural cyclist kasi". After few months "natural runner kasi, sa swim mahina yan"...the words I kept hearing when "rambo" started training under my care. So back then, who cares? Who's Rambo? What makes him different from your previous athletes?
Big challenge for a coach who wants to prove that we can do it, maybe not now, but someday.
In any sport, not only triathlon, discipline, time and patience works hand-in-hand. Marami tayong potential atheletes sa Pilipinas, very talented pa nga, unfortunately, they lack one or maybe all of the above I mention.
Sa tagal ko sa coaching, i can say filipino athletes are far from foreign triathletes in terms of training mind-set and discipline; be an elite or age-groupers. However, I can also say we are more talented than them, agree?...kung mabigyan lang ng tamang direksyon at foundation sa training. I also salute our pinoy age-groupers who trains hard and shows good results, di lang sa lokal races, pati sa abroad.
As a coach winning 5150 twice in a row was definitely a boost for me and my team! First word from Rambo after the race was, "coach, para sa inyo po ito!"...awwwwh :)
A genuine offering for my mom who just passed away few days before the race.
Seriously, in nine years of coaching that was the most rewarding words I heard from my athlete.

Bless your champion heart!

Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay
Discipline is systematic instruction intended to train a person

We attempted our first international event in 2005 at the ITU World Duathlon Championship in New Castle, NSW. We finished 29th place with pride and glory for the country, Ryan Mendoza was the first filipino to finished in a World championship level in multisport. Dags Asuncion, Team Mechanic; Senator Pia Cayateno, George Vilog, Jeff Valdez & Ryan Mendoza with Team USA-AG   Our next event was 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Pattaya, Thailand.
